It was made with the idea of blending the classic with the modern and introducing a new kind of luxury fashion that can last you through several seasons. It focuses on blending low-impact natural fibers with bold styles to create a unique collection of modern designs.

Its owner, Lucy Henry-Hicks, founded this outstanding establishment in high school after being influenced by her family who have a long history of retailing. Alongside her mother, she wished to reflect the sunny and comfortable vibes of her country through women’s clothing. Dissh has seen a steady rise in the industry through the years but it faced a sudden boom when its garments began to go viral on TikTok and became the fascination of millions of young girls.

They saw a brand that promoted refinement combined with carefreeness and motivated women to embrace their femininity through its sophisticated designs. Interestingly, Dissh works for all sorts of events and professions, lending you a relaxed vibe on a sunny morning and an elegant aura on a work day. At the heart of it, Dissh wants to leave an impact on its customers instead of being just another brand that can be discarded with the changing seasons.

Another plus side of linen is that it is biodegradable and sustainable which not only makes it beautiful to wear but reduces your carbon footprint as well.

This detail led us to the question of whether Dissh is fast fashion or not, and the answer was immediate. It is not a fast fashion brand. Dissh, despite keeping up with modern designs, does not care much for trends and rapidly puts out clothing every few weeks. Instead, it wants to prioritize quality over quantity and carve a special place for itself in the customer’s heart, letting them know that it can be relied on for good quality and long-lasting clothing.

Amazingly, we guessed that Dissh must be comparatively expensive to fast fashion brands owing to its commitment to premium-quality garments, but we were surprised to find out that it is way more affordable than we thought! Reviewers compliment it for its luxurious look and feel despite costing way less. It is also praised for paying great attention to detail despite putting out minimalistic designs that oozes grace.

In terms of sustainability, Dissh is taking great steps toward becoming an environmentally friendly brand even though it has a long way to go, it can be praised for its continuous efforts towards a sustainable future. Firstly, in addition to linen, it mostly works with organic fibers like ramie and cupro, and recycled polyesters which may not be organic but is still a step towards reducing clothes from ending up in the bins. These fabrics can be worn repeatedly instead of losing their luster after a few wears making them durable.

Dissh also announced its collaboration with REPREVE on its website, which is known worldwide for its premium-quality recycled fibers. REPREVE is one of the frontrunners in ridding the planet of waste and global warming by promoting recycling. This collaboration will feature recycled polyester made of used plastic bottles collected from landfills and oceans. Moreover, it has begun to collect the waste produced during its manufacturing process to create recycled nylon that can further be used in developing new garments.

Its new swimwear collection is also made alongside REPREVE, and based on recycling. The CEO says that this collection is a push into a more sustainable future for the brand. She promises that this is only the beginning of Dissh’s efforts towards creating a safer planet.

It also doesn’t stock up on any new style that it launches, instead preferring to release a small batch that it uses to gauge the reaction of the customers before deciding to either scrap the design or make more of it which is an admirable way of reducing waste.

It has also taken sustainable initiatives in packaging, halting the use of plastic packaging and introducing its new POLLASTIC mailers which are made from 100% plastic pollution in the ocean. Dissh encourages its customers to reuse and recycle the POLLASTIC bags. Also, in addition to the environment, it seems to be animal-friendly despite not having any proper policies in place because a look into its garments reveals that it does not use genuine leather.

Another wonderful step that Dissh has taken for the sake of the environment is a partnership with Thread Together. Through it, it collects and redistributes all the clothes that were not in season anymore to the poor and needy, choosing to use them for a humanitarian cause. However, Dissh is still not considered 100% sustainable because it is not transparent about its greenhouse emissions, water consumption, and even its manufacturing countries. It has no record of any ethical plans or regulations which is important for any brand to be categorized as sustainable.

Thus, we can confidently say that Dissh cannot be called a fast fashion brand because of its appreciable efforts toward durability and sustainability. If it continues on this path, it may very well become one of the most visited sustainable online stores worldwide.
